Catalog and inventory

Add products, assets, and kits

Build a rentable product catalog, track individual assets when needed, and assemble kits from products.

A product is a catalog entry. An asset is an individual physical unit you track by its own number. A kit groups products and may have assembled units. Set these up before quoting a rental.

  1. Open Products and select New product. Enter its name, choose the rental product type, set its daily rate, and complete the applicable Inventory fields. Select Create product.
  2. For individually identified equipment, enable Asset tracked on the product. Open its Assets tab, select New, and enter the identifiers for each unit. The product's unit count follows its asset records.
  3. For quantity-based equipment, record the inventory quantity or Inventory entries as prompted by the product form. Check the resulting availability before you offer the product to a customer.
  4. To rent out several products as one unit, return to Products and select New kit. Complete Details, then add the required products and quantity per kit under Kit products.
  5. Set the kit's Prices, create or review Assemblies where applicable, and select Create kit. Review the kit's availability before adding it to a rental.

Note: A kit can be unavailable because a required component or tracked asset is unavailable. Availability also depends on dates, other rentals, and maintenance. Asset tracking and some kit actions may depend on your plan or user permissions.

Next: Add and manage customers.
